IFIP 's jubileum finale: Celebrating 60 with UNESCO - 21 december van 13.00 - 16.30 uur

Op 21 december is de grote finale van de decentrale vieringen van het jubileumjaar van IFIP: Celebrating 60 with UNESCO.

16 december 2021

Established in 1960 under the auspices of UNESCO, IFIP – the International Federation of Information Processing – has developed towards one of the most important global voices on information and communication technologies (ICT) related issues in the past 60 years. On 21 December IFIP concludes its year of postponed jubilee activities and the series of 60th anniversary events. With many topical challenges in common, speakers from UNESCO and from IFIP and its member societies will take a look back but – more importantly – look forward on how to deal with the challenges in ICT in a cooperative way.

In the global online event chaired by IFIP President Mike Hinchey and Past IFIP President Leon Strous the heads of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) and British Computer Society (BCS) will join UNESCO’s Assistant Director for Communication and Technology and IFIP volunteers to commemorate IFIP’s 60th Jubilee.

An address by UNESCO’s Tawfik Jelassi will be a key element of the event, underpinning IFIP’s on-going relationship with UNESCO. Another highlight will be a fireside chat session moderated by IFIP President-elect Anthony Wong, with two IFIP Member Presidents, ACM’s Gabriele Kotsis and BCS’s John Higgins on the highly topical issue of the role of ICT professionals and professional societies in dealing with the climate crisis.
